Activities
MISC invites you to join our events. The events vary from cultural performance to serious issues. We host both regular and special events and activities for various cultural groups across campus, such as Internal Welcome Party. In addition, we organize forums that serve as a venue for international students to exchange ideas and viewpoints and to discuss and solve contingent issues. Below are our upcoming and past events.

International Welcome Party

International Party _Winter 2007 The “International Student Welcome Party” is an event that targets international students, foreign exchange students as well as domestic students. Currently, there are more than 1,400 international students and 300 international scholars at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In the past, the individual international student associations were fragmented and provided a welcome party only for their own ethnicity. The Missouri International Student Council uses this opportunity to initiate and organize what has now become a unified welcoming party for the international community and a representing voice of all international students, regardless of their origin. Some of the international student groups will serve their own food and provide information about their culture.

General Assembly Meeting

General Assembly Meeting

The General Assembly Meeting a monthly meeting that provides opportunities for international students and representatives from organizations to discuss pertinent issues. The meetings also allow those representatives from international organizations to share information about their organization, current activities, as well as announcing their upcoming events.

Public forums/ Open forums/ Discussion sessions

Forum Open forums are a more intensive venue for international students and representatives for their organizations to discuss issues that matter to them. MISC organizes the forums to create opportunities for issue stakeholders to come together and exchange their ideas and perspectives. From the deliberative dialogue, MISC compiles a report that is useful for decision makers regarding issues at hand. These issues can also encompass what is going on in the world. MISC encourages the venue for international students and domestic students to interact with friends from other countries and cultures. This interaction facilitates dialogue, which leads to greater understanding of global issues, whether political, cultural or economic, as well as shared interests in peace and cooperation. We can create a sense of involvement that extends beyond the borders of campus, community and state. And as a result, stimulate student learning and enrich the local culture.
